This is my "How to Quit Drinking Alcohol" video series on what I'm doing to beat my own abusive history with alcohol. Learn about the wins, challenges and losses I've experience over the years.

In this video I describe the most important tool that has changed the course of my life and was responsible for me finally making the move to quit for good.

The tool: Introspective Writing

So here are the basic notes for you to use:

(1) Emo Dumping 

The writing prompt is this: HOW ARE YOU FEELING RIGHT NOW?

Let it all out. Write as much as you can... take a breath and write some more.

(2) Daily Journal 

This can be in the morning or the evening. I suggest the evening pages to start.

Use this template:

  • 2.1 Mini Emo Dump: What was the general emotional state of this day?
  • 2.2 Lesson of the day: What did you learn from today's experience?
  • 2.3 Gratitude: Write down three sentences using this structure:  
    "I'm grateful for ..... [insert] because...... [reason]. x 3

(3) Writing exercises & Shadow work
